Utility Payment Assistance
Once-a-year assistance with paying a costly energy utility bill is available to income qualified (.pdf, 1 page) California households under the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This program is coordinated locally via a network of community based energy service providers. Contact your local provider directly for an application. They can also help you with other locally available resources for assistance.

Reduced Rate Programs
California utility companies offer a longer term reduction in monthly energy charges to qualified low-income households. These programs have a variety of household income qualifications.
